Carmona, Cavite, Philippines, 11 February 2013: All eyes are on San Lazaro Leisure Park this Sunday as back to back stakes races hit the tracks. Expected to sweep the crowd is the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) Freedom Cup; and the Philracom sponsored, Sorteo Cup.

The PCSO Freedom Cup, open to all local and imported runners, kicks it off big this year with a whopping Php2M cash prize. Revived in 2011, the Freedom Cup commemorates the anniversary of the 1986 People Power Revolution. Arvindugo jockeyed by JB Hernandez took home the grand prize last year. The winner will be awarded Php1.2M, with the placers receiving Php400,000, Php250,000, and Php150,000 respectively. Expected to join the race is 2012 Gold Cup champion, Hagdang Bato.

The Sorteo Festival is a triennial celebration of the Municipality of Carmona in concurrence with its 156th founding anniversary. “Sorteo” is a Spanish word meaning raffle or draw. The event is highlighted by the “Sorteo ng Bukid ng Bayan,” a lottery of town land parcels. Winners will return the land to the municipality after three years, and will be raffled again so that others may earn from it. This year, the LGU of Carmona has partnered with Philracom to hold the “Sorteo Cup.” Proceeds from the benefit race  will be given to the municipality in support of its welfare program for persons with disability.

The Philracom Juvenile Series is back at San Lazaro Leisure Park for its fourth running. The Juvenile Fillies and Colts Stakes races will be held on October 20 and October 21, respectively.

Taking the tracks on Saturday are 12 saucy fillies geared up to take the prestigious title and grand prize. The declared runners include: Able Minister, Balbonic, Ballet Flats, Blush of Victory, Eurasian, Five Star, Grand Strikes Girl, Hora Mismo, Leonor, Mrs. Teapot, Niagara Boogie, and Super Whaaa

The heavily favored Eurasian, who won the last two legs, is expected to conquer the track. That won’t be easy especially since first leg winner, Ballet Flats, and ten others are eyeing to finish first.

On Sunday, pumped up colts lead by two leg winner Boss Jaden will take the spotlight along with 10 other declared runners which include: Alta’s Finest, Boss Jay, By the Way, Divine Eagle, Hot and Spicy, Sky Dragon, Spinning Ridge, Striker’s Symbol, Tarzan, and Un thinkable.

Both races will run a distance of 1500 meters, and distributed prize of over Php1.5M.

The Bayang Karerista is up for another exciting round of races on Sunday, October 21, as the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) holds its Anniversary Racing Festival at the San Lazaro Leisure Park.

Two thrilling races have been prepared to mark the celebration. First up is the 3YO Open Regular Race, which will run a total of 1400m, and a distributed prize of Php300,000. Six entries have been declared: Seni Seviyorum (Jockey: Red de Leon); Quaker’s Hill (Jockey: John Alvin Guce); Pinay Beauty (Jockey: Alvarez); Machine Gun Mama (Jockey: Pat Dilema); Madam Theresa (Jockey: Zarate); and Pugad Lawin (Jockey: Jesse Guce).

The 1600m Anniversary Open, with a distributed prize of Php1.5M, will have five runners: Arvin Dugo (Jockey: Bacaycay); Hi Money (Jockey: Dilema); Pleasantly Perfect (Jockey: Jonathan Hernandez); Si Señor (Jockey: Zarate); and Purple Ribbon (Jockey: Val Dilema).

KLUB DON JUAN DE MANILA RACING FESTIVAL

The excitement levels up at San Lazaro as Klub Don Juan de Manila celebrates its 11th Racing Festival from October 2 – 7, 2012. Sponsored by the Philippine Racing Commission, Resorts World Manila, and Magic Millions Sales Australia, the weeklong stakes races will feature the prowess of some of the fastest gallopers of the season. The much awaited Don Juan Derby on Sunday, October 7, will be participated by nine top class three year-olds who will brave and battle the distance of 2,000m. Also running for the day are the Don Antonio Floreindo Memorial Race (formerly Don Juan Golden Girls), Don Juan Juvenile Fillies, and the Don Juan Juvenile Colts. Lakambini, or muse in Filipino, is commonly associated with Gregoria de Jesus, the wife of Andres Bonifacio, and culturally epitomized as the “Lakambini ng Katipunan”.

True to its name, the Philracom Lakambini Stakes Race displays the strength, speed, and beauty of the leading 3 year-old fillies in the country today. The winner of the 1750m race will receive the top prize of Php 720,000 and join the ranks of Constatic, Redemption, Heaven Sent, and Indelible Ink in claiming the Lakambini Championship title.

Philracom Juvenile Colts and Juvenile Fillies Stakes 2nd Leg

The Philracom Juvenile Stakes Series is an annual racing event participated in by the industry’s upcoming 2 year-old thoroughbreds. It is divided into two categories: Colts and Fillies – consisting of four legs each. The series is culminated by the Philracom Juvenile Championship, a Php2.5M race participated by the winners and other declared entries in both categories.

The 2^nd Leg of the Juvenile Fillies and Juvenile Colts Stakes is scheduled on August 11 and August 12 respectively, at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite. Both legs will run a total of 1200M, with a distributed prize of Php 500,000 each.
